Thank you again! I'm so happy you take the time to comment. What comes to reference, I did stare at my hand quite a while! And also fixed his armor after seeing it was wrong, so I just should have used reference from the start..
I think painting from reference is actually a very good way to learn and improve ones skills! I've just figured this out, and have learned a lot. So don't put yourself down for using them. Great artists in history made even royalty stand still for days on end while painting their portraits.
Ah.. hand is really hard to do.. I still struggle with hands, and sometimes avoid painting them.. You did a really good job with the hand here.. I can tell you have studied it..
You're right about painting from reference. I am always learning painting after painting. What I end up doing is, using the reference for facial expression and the pose, but add other elements myself. I find just copying a photo quite boring, so I change things to make it interesting. That's why I keep turning photos of Tom Hiddleston into Loki.. I can't help myself..
Haha, I known the feeling. If I would just draw what I was comfortable with, I'd just paint a lot of faces. Love drawing those. And never finish anything, because I don't have the patience to work on one single drawing for days. My comp's overflowing with sketches. :/
Yeah, you have a great way of making art, and learning much in the process. When it comes to Loki, or Hiddleston, can anyone help themselves?
